Abuja (Sundiata Post) – Maj. Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division Nigerian Army and the Commander Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), worked tirelessly to foster peaceful coexistence in Plateau State using different strategies to achieve his goals in the outgoing year, 2024.
The Army boss introduced fresh insights and recommended better ways of working together to ensure peaceful coexistence among communities.
His recommendation hinged on Military Kinetic and non-kinetic approach prayed off, making him the finest Military Major General loved by all in the State.
In one of the many fora where Gen. Abubakar spoke, he had said “conflict evolves and the over two decades old violent conflict in the state now has new dynamics hence the need for frank discussions that would assist in early warnings and early responses that would mitigate violence in communities.”
Abubakar had identified negligence by some leaders, criminal exploitation and ethno-religious tensions as factors that perpetuate the crisis in the State.
Putting an end to this, he called for community engagement, credible intelligence, and collective action to address these security challenges, an effort that has paid off.
Recently the GOC expressed happiness that his troops had restored peace in the troubled areas of Barkin Ladi, Riyom, Bokkos, Wase and Bassa Local Government Areas.
He had said: “We are committed to deploying all assets to ensure our people sleep with their eyes closed”.
Praising his officers and men, Abubakar had also said: “I’m honoured to be your Commander, I thank you for your tireless efforts in restoring normalcy to Plateau State.
“I acknowledge your sacrifice in the significant progress made in the fight against insecurity. I am glad for the retrieval of numerous weapons, and ammunition, and the dismantling of local arms-producing factories”, he had said.
