The 2014 Year-In-Search lists by Google has named Mercy Johnson-Okojie as the most searched Nollywood personality, while the late award winning filmmaker Amaka Igwe turned out to be the top trending Nollywood personality.
Due to the vibrancy in Nollywood and the Nigerian Music, the entertainment industry has often attracted much attention. Topping the list of most searched Nigerian musician is the self-styled ‘Omo Baba Olowo’, Davido, who also had the most watched music video on YouTube. Coming second and third on the list are Igbo rap sensation, Phyno and the first lady of Mavin Record, Tiwa Savage, respectively.
In sports, Stephen Keshi topped the list of most searched sports personalities in Nigeria, followed in the top ten list by Ikechukwu Uche and Ejike Uzoenyi. Others that made the list include; Musa Yahaya, Umar Zango, Vincent Enyeama, Blessing Okagbare, Daniel Amokachi, Rabiu Ali and Sone Aluko.
The first five for the top 10 most searched football clubs are; Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Barcelona, while the most searched of the teams that participated in the 2014 World Cup are Super Eagles, the Black Stars of Ghana and host Brazil’s Samba Boys.
The Google’s 14th annual Year-In-Search is a look at 2014 through the collective eyes of the world on the web, offering a unique perspective on the year’s major events and hottest trends based on searches conducted in Nigeria.
