Sundiata Post recalls that Justice Abang on Tuesday summoned the former President to appear as a defence witness for the former National Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olisa Metuh, following Metuh’s application in that regard.
However, a reliable source close to the former President informed Sundiata Post that Jonathan would not honour the summon by Justice Abang since he (Jonathan) was not served such notice by the court by the close of work on Tuesday.
At the resumed hearing on Tuesday, Metuh’s lawyer told the court that Jonathan snubbed a letter his chambers wrote to him with respect to the matter.
The EFCC accused Metuh of receiving N400million from the Office of the former National Security Adviser (ONSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki (Rtd) without executing any contract.
According to the anti-graft agency, the N400 million was part of $2.1billion meant for the procurement of arms to fight Boko Haram insurgency in the North East of Nigeria.
