MFM FC players pledge win against Nasarawa United

Lagos –  Players of MFM FC of Lagos on Tuesday pledged to start the second stanza of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) with a win against Nasarawa United of Lafia.

A statement by the club’s spokesman, Olawale Quadri, said in Lagos that the players were ecstatic about returning to the field of play after about two weeks of break.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that MFM FC would host the Solid Miners in Wednesday’s Match Day 21 tie of the NPFL coming up at the Agege Township Stadium.

The first leg of this fixture saw MFM FC claiming the maximum three points with a 2-1 victory over the Lafia-based team at the Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi. ‎

The statement said that the players were determined to make their fans happy by resuming the league on a high note.

It quoted the club’s prolific striker, Ifeanyi Ifeanyi as saying he would improve on his goals scoring to give the club the advantage over other teams.

“I will definitely raise the bar in the game against Nasarawa United to ensure we got the maximum points in the game because it is important.

“We want to start the second stanza of the league on a winning note and we need to continue our great performance.

“We are gunning for the maximum three points against Nasarawa United to start with,’’ it said.

According to the statement, midfield maestro, Austin Onuwa, predicts a tough game but believes his team will emerge victorious at the end of the day.

“We shocked Nasarawa United in the first leg, so expectedly; this game will be a difficult one because they will be coming for revenge.

“I hope we will defeat them because the three points at stake are very important to us to give our fans something to cheer as we begin the second round of the league,’’ it quoted him as saying.

The Olukoya Boys claimed the 10th spot in the top-flight with 27 points at the end of first stanza. (NAN)
