CAIRO (Sundiata Post) – Peace and stability in the Middle East cannot be achieved without resolving the Palestinian issue, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sisi said on Monday.
“Achieving peace and stability in the Middle East will remain unattainable until there is just settlement of the Palestinian issue,’’ Sisi said during a joint news conference in Cairo with French President Emmanuel Macron.
The Egyptian president noted that he had discussed with his French counterpart prospects for reviving the Middle East peace process.
On Sunday evening, Macron arrived in Egypt. It is his fourth official visit to the country.
On Monday, the two leaders held talks, following which they signed a joint declaration to elevate bilateral relations to the level of a strategic partnership.
Later on Monday, a trilateral meeting will take place in Cairo, with Jordan’s King Abdullah II joining.
Macron is expected to visit the northern part of the Sinai Peninsula on Tuesday. (RIA/NAN)
