Lafia – Abdullahi Adeka, Nasarawa State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has commended the tripartite committee setup by the Federal Government for the successful completion of assignment on the new minimum wage.
The chairman gave the commendation in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Lafia.
He said that the committee did a good job by agreeing on a compromised amount that would be announced by President Muhammadu Buhari after receiving the reports officially.
He noted that all interests were adequately represented at the committee, urging that and the new minimum wage should be acceptable to all.
The chairman, however, appealed to the President Muhammadu Buhari to accelerate the implementation of the approved minimum wage as soon as he receives the reports.
He warned politicians to stop playing politics with workers` welfare, adding that it was their right to get new minimum wage, after five years.
Adeka said that the state governor had assured workers that the state government would implement the new minimum wage, agreed by the tripartite committee.
The chairman, therefore, called on workers to remain calm and await final government the pronouncement on the new minimum.(NAN)
