ABUJA – The Minister of Information, Sen. Patricia Akwashiki, on Tuesday extolled the management of Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) for exhibiting professionalism in its reportage.
The minister made the commendation during a familiarisation tour of the corporate Headquarters of the station in Abuja.
She said the organisation had exhibited good professional conduct, especially during the coverage of the 2015 general elections.
“ The NTA management is doing a very good job, the organisation is professionally run and that is what you should expect in an organisation of this nature.
“ The impact that NTA management made is visible; ranging from their programmes, the equipment they have, especially the Startimes Network is very good for our country,” she said.
She also commended NTA Director-General Mr Sola Omole, for transforming the organisation.
The minister, however, advised the director-general to look inward and commercialised some of the products of the organisation in other to increase internally generated revenue.

In his remark, Omole told the minister that funding was the major challenge facing the smooth operations of the organisation.
He said the organisation required about N7 billion to enable it digitalized its studious nationwide.
He said NTA have offices in 36 states of the federation, 10 network centres as well as 65 community stations across the country.
The D-G said the organisation needed additional cameras and outside broadcast van for live coverage of events. (NAN)
