KEBBI (Sundiata Post) – Alhaji Bello Goronyo, the Minister of State for Works, has lauded President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to the Nigerian Project and service to the country in spite of myriads of challenges.
Goronyo made the commendation when he inaugurated a reconstructed box culvert along Birnin Kebbi – Argungu road in Argungu Local Government Area of Kebbi on Thursday.
Reports that the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) not only reconstructed the collapsed box culvert but also transformed it to a mega-box culvert.
The culvert, hitherto, posed untold headship to motorists plying the road as well as farmers cultivating farmlands along the road during rainy season.
Inaugurating the road, Goronyo, highlighted the role the state government played in its contribution to the Renewed Hope Agenda of Bola Tinubu.
“The President remains committed to the Nigerian Project and ready to serve Nigerians; despite the myriad of challenges, he’s focused and not distracted in delivering on his mandate.
“Kebbi as sub -national contributed a lot to the renewed hope agenda of Mr President.
“Gov. Nasir Idris has been piloting the affairs of the state in a very serious manner and impacting positively on the lives of people in the state.
“I congratulate the Kebbi people for having Gov. Idris as governor of Kebbi as I have seen tremendous achievements recorded in less than two years of his administration,” he said.
Goronyo recalled that the newly inaugurated box culvert was futuristic, connecting business, marketing opportunities in agriculture, commerce, and job creation for teeming youths, as well as linking states in the northwest zone.
“I know how difficult it was during rainy season as it was not motorable but now it has been put to not only to its normal shape but a standard one.
“I, therefore, urge the general public, especially nearby communities, to assist the government in the road maintenance.
“I have been saying that it is difficult to construct the new project than to maintain it.
“The government spent huge amount of money on road rehabilitation and maintenance every year, hence it will not allow some unscrupulous vehicle owners to deliberately destroy such roads,” he said.
The minister called on the state and local governments as well as the entire citizens to support the federal government’s efforts in road maintenance.
In his speech, the Managing Director of FERMA, Dr Chukwuemeka Agbasi, said the project was awarded to enhance the condition of the road for public use as part of FERMA’s mandates.
Agbasi commended the minister for his determination to actualise President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda of transformation in the country.
Earlier, the state Commissioner for Works and Transportation, Alhaji Faruk Abdullahi-Muslim, commended the federal government, and FERMA’s Engineer in-charge of the state, Malam Rilwanu Usman, for ensuring execution of quality projects and road maintenance in the state.
On his part, the FERMA’s Engineer in-charge of the state, reiterated the commitment of Dr Agbasi, to making all federal roads in the state and beyond pothole free and motorable all year round within the limit of available resources. (NAN)
