Minister orders contractor to speed up work on Ibeno skills centre

IBENO – The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Steve Oru, on Friday urged  contractors handling the Skill Acquisition Centre in Ibeno, Akwa Ibom,  to speed up the pace of work or face sanctions. Oru gave the order when he visited the project site to assess the progress of the work done by the contractor. He said he was not pleased with the level of work done at the centre, adding that work on the entrance from the gate ought to have reached completion stage.

[eap_ad_1] He inspected the hostel facilities, administrative blocks, workshop rooms, store house, cafeteria, oil field/rig for exploration practices as well as recreational facilities in the centre. The minister also said that the contractor should ensure that the jobs done measured up to standard. Oru further said that the Akwa Ibom Skill Acquisition Centre, when completed, was expected to train youths in oil and gas, maritime and the information communication technology. He said that the youth would be drawn from the nine oil producing states of Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo, Imo, Ondo, and Rivers on equal basis.
