Gwagwalada (FCT), – A 16-year-old was on Wednesday docked in an Upper Area Court in Gwagwalada, FCT, for allegedly a Samsung phone worth N120,00.The police charged the minor who resides in Aco estate FCT with theft.The Prosecution Counsel, Mr S.k. Iyakwo told the court that Mr David Akaminye of Sabon Lugbe Abuja reported the matter at the police station on April 23.Iyakwo said that on the same day the minor entered the complainant’s shop and stole a Samsung cell phone worth N120,000.He said that during investigation the minor confessed that he stole the phone and sold it to one Mustapha Umar.The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 287 of the Penal Code.The minor, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.The Defence Counsel, Fatima Sanni, in an oral bail application prayed the court to grant her client bail in the most liberal terms.Sanni cited Section 158, 161 and 162 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) to buttress her claims for bail, adding that he will not jump bail and would make himself available for his trials.The Judge, Malam Abdullahi Abdulkarim, considering the facts that the defendant is a minor released him on bail to his father, Livinus Torkumbe in the sum of N200,000.Abdulkarim adjourned the case until May 23 for hearing.
