MKO Abiola: The War on Poverty Campaign, By Ken Tadaferua

ABUJA (Sundiata Post) Is it mere happenstance that possibly before but definitely since MKO Abiola headlined POVERTY elimination and HOPE restoration in his 1993 presidential campaign, no other presidential candidate has made fight against poverty, the core of their campaign or manifesto theme.

Abiola lived, knew, understood and desired to beat poverty in Nigeria. But that is a strange song in the ears of our political elite, unperturbed by the poverty pandemic crippling millions of citizens.

Poverty is now a peripheral issue in our politics, even today that Nigeria is world’s poverty capital with 87 million extreme poor citizens.

I do miss MKO Abiola.
