Akun – Mr Peter Angbazo, the District Head of Wakama in Nasarawa State, on Monday appealed to wealthy individuals and other Nigerians to assist the less privileged during the Ramadan period.
Angbazo made the appeal while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Wakama, Nasarawa State.
He said that the Ramadan is not only a period to pray and fast, but also a season to give alms to the poor and the less privileged persons in the society.
According to the traditional ruler, this will assist the less privileged and other poor persons to improve on their standard of living.
“Our role is to preach peace, unity to our subjects, others Nigerians and to advise them to live according to the teachings of the Holy Bible and Quran.
“These books tell us to live in peace and tolerate one another, irrespective of our ethnic and religion affiliation.
“My message is for our Muslims brothers, sisters and all of us to intensify prayers in order to achieve permanent peace and to overcome other challenges facing the nation.
“No society or nation can achieve meaningful progress without peace,’’ he said.
Angbazo urged Nigerians to show the Internally Displaced Persons and the poor love and care, and assist them with relief materials.
He urged Nigerians to use the period to pray and seek God’s intervention towards overcoming the present socio-economic problems affecting the nation.
The district head also called on farmers and Fulani herdsmen to co-exist peacefully in order to boost food production for the overall development of the country.
The royal father urged citizens to be law abiding, respect constituted authorities and to shun negative tendencies at all times in the interest of peace and national development.
He charged his subjects to give maximum support to government at all levels in order to enjoy more dividends of democracy.(NAN)
