Monarch tasks journalists on objectivity, national interest

Sokoto – The District Head of Tudun-Wada in Sokoto metropolis, Alhaji Jibo Danmalam, has urged journalists in the country to prioritise national interests in their reportage of events.
The monarch spoke in Sokoto at the inauguration of Al-Hayat Media and Communication Company established by a Sokoto-based journalist, Hayatu Dallatu.
Danmalam has also tasked newsmen to always ensure objectivity in their activities and make the fear of God should their watchword in the discharge of their responsibilities.
“ Journalism practice is key to the sustenance of peace, unity and socio economic prosperity of any society.
“Therefore, journalists can make or mar any society; as such they should ensure factual and balanced reporting of events.
“Doing otherwise will pose serious dangers to the society,” the monarch said.
He commended Dallatu for the gesture and urged him to be patient and prayerful in the all his undertakings.
Speaking, Dallatu pledged to live above board, saying the gesture was aimed at widening the media landscape in the state. ( NAN)
