Abuja – The Secretary, FCT Health and Human Service Secretariat (HHSS), Malam Adamu Bappah, has pledged that more residents will benefit from the FCT Health Insurance Scheme (FHIS).
Babbah said this on Tuesday in Abuja during a week-long briefing from Departments and Agencies under the secretariat.
The secretary said more sensitisation needed to be done to encourage more people to enroll into the scheme.
He urged the Program Manager, Dr Ahmed Danfulani to ensure that workers in both public and private sectors enjoyed subsidised health services as provided in the guidelines.
He commended the FCT Agency for the Control of Aids (FACA) for working hard to reduce the scourge of HIV/AIDS in the territory through intensive treatment and counseling of patients.
Babbah also commended members of staff, HHSS, for their unrelenting services to FCT residents.
“FCTA shall continue to provide free drugs to all patients irrespective of their status, I am very happy that HIV/AIDS is on the decrease in the FCT.
“By the special Grace of God, we will keep sensitising more people to enroll in the scheme and I want to also thank members of staff for their selfless service to the secretariat.
“Please, we need to make sure that all public and private sectors enjoy subsidised medical bills in the territory,’’ he said.
In his response, Danfulani pledged the commitment of the departments and agencies present at the meeting in discharging their duties diligently.
He said the committee was on top of its toes to see that it met with the guidelines of the scheme.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event is part of the strategy to acquaint the secretary to understand the operative of all departments under his supervision.
