Makurdi — Motorists plying the Makurdi-Otukpo road, have called on the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA), to make travelling safer and smoother for them by repairing bad portions of the road.
A cross section of the motorists in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Makurdi, lamented the bad state of the road.
According to them, potholes have dotted the road, thus making it an hectic task for those plying the road.
Mr Innocent Oduh, a commercial bus driver, said that God had been protecting most of the road users, otherwise there would have been daily cases of fatal accident on the road.
“Due to the potholes on the road, drivers find it difficult maneuvering, hence causing accidents; sometimes minor and sometimes fatal,” he said.
Another commercial driver, Mr Wilfred Asom, said he frequently replaced the shock absorbers of his vehicle due to the poor state of the road.
Meanwhile, Mr Orduen Nongo, a motorist, complained about the journey from Makurdi to Otukpo, which should not take up to an hour, now taking up to two hours or more.
All efforts by NAN to get the comments of the FERMA in Benue on the issue failed.
