ABUJA (Sundiata Post) – Speculations on the death of Nollywood veteran, John Okafor popularly called Mr. Ibu may have been laid to rest following the confirmation of his passage by the President of Actors Guild of Nigeria
(AGN), Emeka Rollas. Rollas made the confirmation via his social media handle. He wrote: “Sad Day for Actors Guild of Nigeria. Kate Henshaw lost her mother earlier today and Mr lbu suffered cardiac arrest according to his manager for 24 years Mr Don Single Nwuzor. I announce with deep sense of grief that Mr Ibu didn’t make it. May his soul rest in peace.”
Mr. Ibu was aged 62. According to multiple reports from sources close to him, the veteran comedian passed away at Evercare Hospital. Many fans have shared condolences on X, reminiscing about movies the late actor has featured.
Details surrounding the cause of death are still unclear as his family and representatives have yet to comment publicly.
The actor had been battling health issues since October 2023 and had undergone multiple surgeries that led to the amputation of his leg. However, updates from his family in November indicated he was recovering.
