Lagos- MTN Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of MTN Nigeria, on Saturday urged Nigerians to always keep their surroundings clean to curb malaria in the country.
The MTN Foundation gave the advice in a statement signed by its Executive Secretary, Ms Nonny Ugboma,
The statement said that keeping a clean environment would ensure a healthy living by Nigerians.
It said that maintaining a clean environment included draining the gutters in our immediate vicinity, getting rid of stagnant water and bushy areas around houses, as it breeds mosquito eggs and larvae.
According to the statement, Nigerians should always keep tanks or other containers tightly covered and sleep under long-lasting insecticide-treated mosquito nets.

It added that people should always wear clothes that covered the hands and legs, when sleeping or sitting outside the house at night.
“Always close the doors and windows to prevent mosquitoes from entering the house at night and use insecticide to kill mosquitoes.
“As the world marks this year’s ‘World Malaria Day’, MTN Foundation remains committed to the fight against malaria in our communities.
“We will continue to play a supporting role in keeping with the World Health Organisation’s theme of `Invest in the Future – Defeat Malaria’ and work towards a malaria-free world,” the statement said. (NAN)
