Lagos – The MTN Nigeria in Lagos said it had supported the operations of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) with the donation of a security Patrol Vehicle.
This is contained in a statement issued by the NDLEA and signed by the agency’s spokesperson, Mr Mitchell Ofoyeju, in Lagos on Thursday.
According to the statement, the philanthropic gesture is aimed at improving the security condition of the NDLEA in Lagos State..
“The Director-General of the agency, Mrs Roli Bode-George received the delegation of MTN at the Ikoyi Headquarters of the agency in Lagos.
“Bode-George, while appreciating MTN, said it would take the collective effort of stakeholders to win the war against illicit drugs.
“This show of solidarity is highly appreciated and it will serve as a motivation to the agency.
“This is in line with the fact that security is a collective responsibility.
“We are inspired that you recognise our role in promoting national peace and security,; it said..
The statement quoted the Senior Manager of MTN Security Unity, Mr Sunday Ngegu as saying that the support project was designed to respond to issues in communities where MTN operated.
MTN foundation, it said, had presented 175 security patrol vehicles to 29 States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja between 2012 and 2015. (NAN)
