Munich  –  German police successfully defused a U.S. bomb from World War II in Munich on Wednesday, during an operation that saw around 8,000 people evacuated from their homes, local media reported.

Bomb disposal experts were able to transport the 250-kilogram bomb to a secure location, where it would be detonated or rendered harmless.
