MONTERREY, Mexico (AP) — A musician was kidnapped early Sunday as he played for a crowd of about 400 people at a bar in northern Mexico, and his dead body was found shortly thereafter, a state official said.
An official with the Nuevo Leon state attorney general’s office, speaking on condition of anonymity because he wasn’t authorized to talk with the press, said the kidnapping occurred at La Eternidad, a Monterrey bar with a history of violence.

The official says several men climbed onto the stage to grab the musician playing timbales for group Los Kumbiamberos RS and took him away in a taxi.
The body of 20-year-old Rogelio “El Chiken” Contreras Rivera turned up nearby about 40 minutes later with signs of torture and a bullet hole in its head.
The bar has been the scene of other past violent acts. On Jan. 26, 2012, eight young men and three women were kidnapped by men linked to organized crime. They were all later killed in different places around Monterrey.
