Born in Lagos on July 30, 1985, into a family of various religions and ethnicity making her the open-minded and free spirited being she was, she lived in Nigeria and the United States.
She became an independent artiste and songwriter who began to gain grounds in 2007 after the release of her hit song ‘Aboko Ku’. Managed by Toni Payne, she had hit singles like “The Flyest” and “Teno”.
In the last two years before her death on March 28 in her Ogba residence in Lagos, Zara shared via social media platforms, Instagram and twitter her struggle with Multiple Sclerosis and allowed her followers see her journey through the difficult times. She shared videos on Instagram about her difficulty to walk and sleep; her pain and discomfort and appealed to followers to help her get back on her feet again.
Anne Marie, her guardian said “Zara was a great girl, always smiling amidst the pain she went through. We miss her and wish she did not have to go so soon; but God knows best”.
