Abuja (Sundiata Post) – The federal lawmaker representing Imo West Senatorial District at the 9th senate, Senator Rochas Okorocha has said that his case with Economic and Financial Crimes Commission was politically motivated as there is no truth in the issues raised.
Okorocha stated this on Monday at Nigerian Union of Journalists Abuja FCT Council during a Conversation with Owelle @ 59 program while fielding questions from journalists.
The former Governor said the allegation was that they claimed to have found N57billion in his account and then he said where is it, ” If I should have ten percent of the money in my account I would know what to do with it. He said that there are people especially in the South East with specialty in writing petition.
According to him, there is a street for petition in Imo State – Njemanze, all tht is needed is for somebody to give your description and they will come up with a petition that will suit you. Rochas said that people do that to constitute cog on the wheel of your political progress.
“As a sitting Governor, I forfeited my security vault for the whole of eight years I was governor of Imo State so if I am to return to the state now they are owing me N80billion. Where did I keep that kind of money and I was able to build 30 hospital, 1000 projects in Imo State.
Senator Okorocha also debunked insinuations that his some of his contracts were substandard, adding that the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who came to commission some of his projects confessed when he came for commissioning that his projects were solid.
He stated that since he left Imo as Governor, there has not been any single new projects that have been initiated in that state. Adding that the project President Buhari commissioned in Imo couple of weeks back was his project what was done was that it was renovated.
