IBADAN – A Nollywood Star, Mrs Rose Odika, on Saturday said that her target in the movie industry was to produce internationally acceptable movies.
Odika, the interim Chairperson of the Theatre Arts and Movie Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), Oyo State chapter, stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan.
According to her, she will only accept fulfilment as an actress cum producer if the feat is achieved.
“I have not achieved anything but just name. As an actress, I have achieved name but not as a producer.
“The challenges are getting higher and higher every day.
“My target is to produce a movie that will be accepted internationally, once I do this, I would have achieved my aim, but now, I am just starting,’’ she said.
She said that the association had done a lot of campaigns with marketers against piracy so that it could be brought to a minimal level.
Odika said that technology wise, she did not think there was anything that could be done to prevent a film from being copied.
She said that the association had approached the National Assembly to help in passing the bill against piracy into law.
The Delta State-born actress said that it was challenging combining the roles of a mother, actress and a leader.
She said that this explained why she had not featured prominently in many movies released in recent times.
Odika, a degree holder in Health Education from Alvan Ikoku College of Education, Imo State, said she would improve the poor remuneration of movie practitioners if she had her way.
“My style is very simple. I love a simple dress that expresses me.
“You can easily know when I am happy and when I am not. When I am happy, I put on shinning colours with accessories,’’ she said.
Nollywood actress who said she learned how to cook from her grandmother, added that she “gets lots of inspirations from the Holy Bible’’.
Odika, who featured in many movies, has produced six. She produced Yoruba films like “Amuni Ma Dajo’’, “Iya Ni Iya Mi’’, and featured in “Aago Kan Oru’’. (NAN)
