N15m theft: Security guards in court for alleged negligent conduct

Abuja  –    Two security guards, Ada Ocho and Irimiya Garba were on Thursday arraigned at the Gudu Upper Area Court in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for negligent conduct over missing N15million.

Ocho, 27, pleaded not guilty to the offence of negligent conduct contrary to Section 196.

The prosecutor, Umoh Inah, told the court that Aaron Wen-Fumning of No. 19, Onitsha Crescent, Area 11, Garki, reported the matter at the Garki Police Station on Feb. 22.

Inah said that Umoh and Garba, now at large,were on duty when they negligently allowed two unidentified persons to break into the complainants house and stolen N15 million, foreign currencies, one apple laptop and phones valued at N300,000.

prosecutor said the defendants could not give a satisfactory account of what happened during police investigation.

The Judge, Alhaji Umar Kagarko granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N400, 000 with one reliable surety in like sum.

Kagarko said that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, and adjourned the case till May 9 for hearing. (NAN)
