KADUNA(Sundiata Post) – A helicopter reported to belong to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) reportedly crashed early on Monday, 1 July 2024, sending the community into a panic.
Eyewitness accounts said the incident occurred at about 5 a.m. at Tami village, in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
A source within the area, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the helicopter was on a routine operational flight when it developed technical difficulties that led to the crash.
Fortunately, the pilot managed to execute emergency protocols effectively, ensuring his survival. There were no casualties.
“The villagers quickly gathered at the crash site, offering assistance where possible and expressing relief that no lives were lost.
“We heard a loud noise and rushed to the scene. We were surprised and relieved to see the pilot alive,” the source added.
A team of military officers swiftly arrived at the scene to secure the area and conduct an initial investigation.
The Nigerian Air Force Spokesperson, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, was yet to respond to an inquiry sent to his mobile phone at the time of filing this report.
