ENUGU – The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) says it will raid unregistered products at the ongoing 25th Enugu International Trade Fair.
An official from the planning, research and statistics department of the agency, Mr Garuba Usman, made the threat in Enugu on Monday while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at the fair ground.
Usman said the raid was to safeguard the health of the public, especially at the fair ground.
He observed that many participants used trade fairs as an avenue to sell unregistered products, adding that the agency would mop up and destroy such products.
“We are at this fair to sensitise the public about what we do, how we do it and also let the people know the dangers of using unregistered products.
“This is not business as usual. We are very serious and we will go round to mop up those products within our mandate that do not have our registration numbers,’’ Usman said.
He also advised members of the public to avoid using or consuming expired and unregistered products.
Usman urged the people to ensure the genuineness of any drug by sending the required number to the agency. (NAN)
