NAHCON airlifts 8,851 intending pildrims to Saudi Arabia

Abuja -The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) on Wednesday said it had transported 8,851 intending pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for the 2015 pilgrimage.

About 66,000 intending pilgrims from the 36 states and FCT are expected to join other Muslims from parts of the world for this year’s Hajj in Saudi Arabia.

Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja, the Director, Public Affairs of the commission, Alhaji Uba Mana, said the exercise had not encounter any hitch since its commencement in Kaduna on Saturday.

“The exercise has been smooth and successful since its commencement on Aug. 23 in Kaduna. The flights have been on schedule and the intending pilgrims coordinated,‘’ he said.

Mana said the commission had also recorded 24 flights that transported the pilgrims to Saudi Arabia from Kaduna, Lagos, Abuja and Sokoto state.

He said eight flights were recorded on Wednesday and five on Tuesday, adding that the aircraft took off from Abuja, Lagos, Sokoto and Kaduna. (NAN)
