Abuja – Mr Nobert Bielderman, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO), says the revenue base of the company has risen from N3.5 billion to N8.5 in the last six years.
This is contained in a statement by Mr Alex Okoh, the Head, Public Communications, Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) on Wednesday.
The statement said that Bielderman gave the figure when he led a team of the company on a courtesy visit to the Acting Director General of the BPE, Mr Vincent Akpotaire.
Bielderman said that having grown the company’s revenue base, the enterprise was determined to sustain the tempo in spite of current economic downturn.
He also said that the company had invested N1.4 billion to upgrade infrastructure and equipment since its privatisation.
Bielderman said that investment made in acquisition of new equipment, human capacity development and good corporate governance would enhance optimal service delivery and further shore up the company’s revenue base.
He said that the company was privatised in 2006 and promptly listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE).
He said it had recorded favourable profit margin for shareholders above the 50 kobo share price before privatisation and assured shareholders of prompt payment of dividends.
According to him, the company pays N26 million as taxes to the federal and state governments annually.
Bielderman attributed this to the dividends of privatisation, adding that NAHCO was poised to sustain its position as a leading success story of the privatisation and reform programme of the government.
Responding, Akpotaire promised to assist the company to overcome some of its challenges.
He said that though the Federal Government had no equity in the enterprise since its privatisation, the bureau was keenly interested in NAHCO’s progress.
Akpotaire applauded the company’s position on NSE ratings and second position on the Global Risk Rating Award and urged it to do more in the area of Corporate Social Responsibility.(NAN)
