Naira Redesign: Human Right Lawyer drags CBN, Buhari; others to Court; seeks N1bn for damages

Abuja (Sundiata Post) – Predicated on the inconveniences and hardship suffered, an Abuja Base Human Right and Constitutional Lawyer, Uthman Isa Tochukwu has filed a suit against the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and joined the President, Muhammadu Buhari, Godwin Emfiele, Attorney General of the Federation, GTbank and Zenith Bank respectively.

Tochukwu, is asking the court to determine if the hardship melted at him as a result of the scarcity of naira by the defendants is not a violation of his fundamental rights as enshrined under chapter 4 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as Amended).

The notice of his action was contained in a statement he personally signed and made available to Sundiata Post in Abuja.

PRESS STATEMENT ON SUING CBN AND BUHARI TO COURT OVER NAIRA REDESIGN POLICY

An Abuja Base Human Right and Constitutional Lawyer Uthman Isa Tochukwu has filed a suit against the Central Bank of Nigeria and joined the President, Muhammadu Buhari, Godwin Emfiele, Attorney General of the Federation, GTbank and Zenih Bank respectively.

The Lawyer has asked the court to determine if the hardship melted at him as a result of the scarcity of naira by the defendants is not a violation of his fundamental rights as enshrined under chapter 4 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as Amended).

He has also asked the court to award 1Billion naira only as general damages against the Defendant, the Lawyer filed the suit today at the Federal High Court Abuja with suit no…FHC/ABJ/CS/418/2023. The matter will be slated next week for hearing.
