Abuja – The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) has pledged to partner with the Living Christ Mission (LCM) to support the church in promoting its activities with well balanced reportage.
Mr Bayo Onanuga, the Managing Director made this pledge in Abuja on Wednesday during a courtesy visit by the planning committee on the upcoming 50th anniversary of the call to ministry of Most. Rev. Victor Daddy Hezekiah, the General Overseer, LCM.
According to him, the NAN has role to play in reporting the activities of not only religious organisations but the entire country.
He, therefore, advised the committee to give NAN the opportunity to interview the founder of the church before the event proper and to be abreast with the activities lined up.
“We are ready to partner with the church and it is good that you have given us an advanced notice.
“This church should have a pre-ceremony and tell us what the church is all about.
“Maybe we should go to the headquarters and really do some stories, talk to Prophet Hezekiah, let him speak about the church and what they have been doing,’’ Onanuga said.
The MD said that the agency was the largest in Africa and in Nigeria as almost all the newspapers and some online bloggers subscribe to it for their daily news service.
The spokesperson of the delegation, Prof. Bonn Nwanolue, the Chairman of the Planning Committee, explained that the visit was to seek solidarity and show appreciation to NAN for its wonderful role of informing the world about happenings in the country.
Nwanolue said that the church deemed it fit to inform NAN about its activities because of the respect it had for the agency.
“We cannot organise an international event without notifying NAN.
“I believe in respect. Respectability is a very big instrument upon which dignity and prestige is simply built upon.
“We have come here today to inform you that we shall be having an eminent event. We are very much impressed for granting our church the opportunity to do so,’’ he said.
NAN reports that the event will take place at the International Conference Centre (ICC) on Oct. with the theme: Daddy Hezekiah: 50 years of selfless, humanitarian services to God and Humanity’.
The founder of LCM, popularly known as Daddy Hezekiah, is also the Chancellor of Hezekiah University in Imo.
The university is the first and only licensed private university in the state. (NAN)
