Abuja(SundiataPost)-Over two hundred students from state-owned tertiary institutions in Oyo State, under the aegis of National Association of Nigerian students (NANS), today shut down the state Secretariat over unpaid salaries of staff in the institutions.

The student who trooped out en masse barricaded the road linking to the secretariat with placards, chanting various anti-government songs.

NANS JCC Chairman, Moronkola Teslim said the association was protesting to call the attention of the state Government to the closure of state-owned tertiary institutions which has lasted for more than three months.

DAILY POST gathered that staff of the Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora and Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo, have been on strike for about four months owing to issues of non-payment of salary arrears of 17 months, part payment of salaries from January 2016 till July 2018, inadequate subvention and poor funding by the state government.
