Lafia – The Nasarawa State House of Assembly says it will work in concert with traditional rulers toward promoting peaceful co-existence among Nasarawa residents irrespective of ethnic, religious and political differences.
Alhaji Ibrahim Balarabe-Abdullahi, the Speaker, made this known on Tuesday in Lafia, when Dr. Bala Angbazo, the Aren Eggon of Eggon, appointed Mr Mohammed Ibrahim–Alkali (APC-Lafia North), as a member of Eggon Council of Elders.
Balarabe-Abdullahi said that peace was critical to making Nasarawa a better place to live in, and promised that member would work with the royal fathers toward improving the living standards of the populace.
The Speaker promised to seek more inputs from the custodians of tradition and culture in the enactment of laws that would impact positively on the people, and urged the rulers to always feel free to voice out their opinions on decisions made by the legislators.
Earlier, while presenting the letter of appointment to Ibrahim–Alkali as member of Eggon Council of Elders, Angbazo had said that the appointment was based on merit and a reward for his contributions to the development of Eggon nation.
Responding, Ibrahim–Alkali thanked the paramount ruler for the honour and promised to be loyal and supportive to the Eggon traditional council.
“This appointment will spur me to do more; I want to thank my father, the leader of the Eggon nation, Dr. Bala Angbazo, for considering me worthy of it,” he said.
He assured the council that he would continue to key into policies and programmes that would have direct impact on the lives of the people of Eggon nation, Nasarawa State and Nigeria.
