Nasarawa Assembly to enact law against illegal occupation of landed properties

Lafia – The Nasarawa State House of Assembly says it will enact a law to prohibit forceful entry and illegal occupation of landed properties toward ensuring peace and development of the state.

The Speaker of the house, Alhaji Ibrahim Balarabe-Abdullahi, stated this in Lafia on Tuesday after Mr Daniel Ogah- Ogazi (APC-Kokona East) presented a bill for a law to Prohibit Forceful Entry and Illegal Occupation of Landed properties, Violent and fraudulent Conduct in Relation to Landed Properties in Nasarawa state.

Balarabe-Abdullahi said, the bill, if passed into law, would tackle the issue of illegal occupation of landed properties and also promote peace in the state and the country at large.

“A bill for a law to Prohibit Forceful Entry and Illegal Occupation of Landed properties, Violent and fraudulent Conduct in Relation to Landed Properties in Nasarawa state and matters connected thereto passed first reading.

“The clerk of the house is here by directed to slate the bill for second reading,” he said.

Ogah-Ogazi (APC-Kokona East), the sponsor of the bill, moved a motion for the bill to scale through first reading in the interest of peace.

Mr Muluku Ibrahim (PDP-Nassarawa Eggon East) seconded the motion.

The house, therefore, unanimously passed the bill into first reading.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) also reports that a bill for a law for Rent Control and Regulation in Nasarawa state has passed first reading.
