Nasarawa Govt. spends N27m on 3 special schools

Lafia – The Chairman, Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Abdulkareem Abdullahi-Mohammed, on Wednesday said the government has spent N27 million to run three special schools for physically challenged persons.

The chairman told newsmen in an interview in Lafia that the special schools were established in Lafia, Keana and Keffi to offer opportunity for physically challenged persons acquire western education.

“There are people with special disabilities and intellectual capability but with no means of supporting themselves in schools, hence the need for the establishment of the special schools.”[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]

The SUBEB chairman assured that products of the schools would be supported by government to also proceed to tertiary institutions, to expand their knowledge base and contribute to national development.

He disclosed that the government is currently building similar schools in Lafia, Akwanga and Gudi.

“The governor spent large sum of money to provide services to the less privileged and the needy, so that they too would have a sense of belonging and contribute their quota to nation building”, the chairman added. (NAN)
