Lafia – The Nasarawa State Government has vowed to end incessant strikes by health workers by addressing the causes in order to guarantee quality healthcare service delivery.
The state’s Deputy Governor, Mr Silas Agara, stated this on Wednesday while presenting 19 vehicles and 63 motorcycles donated by the state government in collaboration with the World Bank to the health sector for improved service delivery.
Agara noted that strikes by health workers in the state had truncated health activities for sometimes now, resulting in poor health services and avoidable deaths.
“This administration hopes to reverse this trend and do all it can to forestall such ugly events in future,” Agara said.
According to him, government will engage more with the health workers with a view to resolving their concerns in order to foster industrial harmony.
He said the present administration had demonstrated commitment to the health sector through the provision of funds for health programmes and prompt payment of counterpart funds for partnership projects.
Agara said that government had tried to create an enabling environment for Primary Health Care (PHC) and by also supporting the ideals of Primary Health Care Under One Roof (PHCUOF).
He commended the contributions of all development partners working to promote quality health care delivery in the state, adding that the government will continue to support such collaboration.
Agara, therefore, implored the public to support the current administration in the state to deliver on good governance for the socio-economic development of the people.
