Lafia – The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) is to collaborate with the media and other relevant authorities to expose fake medical personnel in Nasarawa State.
Bulus Umar, the newly elected Chairman of the Nasarawa State Chapter of the NMA, made this known this on Sunday in Lafia while delivering his inaugural speech following election of new officials of the association.
According to him, the activities of quacks in the health sector over the years, had led to avoidable death of innocent Nigerians.
He, therefore, called on perpetrators of this act to desist from it in order to restore dignity to the medical profession and boost patients’ confidence in the nation’s health sector.
Umar also promised that the leadership of the association would revisit the issue of non-payment of outstanding arrears of allowances of medical Doctors in the state.
Also speaking, Dr Edeh Ejikeme, the immediate past Chairman of the association, expressed gratitude to the members for the opportunity to serve in the last two years.
He lauded the cooperation of his colleagues and the industrial harmony during his two years in office.
He listed other achievement to include; actualization of corrected salary structure, building of secretariat, donation to the families of deceased members among others.
Ejikeme commended Gov. Umaru Al-Makura for giving deserved attention to the welfare of medical personnel
He also appealed to the Governor to accord the new executives the same measure of cooperation.
