ABUJA – The National Agency of Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) on Friday impressed participants in the 9th Abuja International Trade fair with its two locally made tricycles.
The passenger and cargo three-wheeled vehicles, displayed at NASENI pavilion, were among the Nigerian made products showcased by the agency and its subsidiary.
Mr Bolarinwa Gabriel, Head, Technical Business Development, National Engineering Design Development Institute (NEDDI), Nnewi, Anambra, said the products were designed by the agency, a subsidiary of NASENI.
Gabriel told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that all the parts of the motorised tricycles except the standard parts, such as light, tyre and engine, were fabricated at NEDDI in Nnewi.
According to him, the technology used in fabricating the three-wheeled vehicle is same as the one used for motorcycles.
He said the tricycles, which are stronger and more durable than imported ones, also have executive chairs and seat belts for the safety of passengers. [eap_ad_1] According to him the tricycles are made of fibre instead of tarpaulin.
He said other features of the passenger vehicle include reverse and four-speed gears, while the cargo tricycle has five-speed, reverse and auxiliary gears.
He further explained that the passenger tricycle is an improvement on the one manufactured by the agency and brought for display in 2013.
Gabriel, who said the agency came to the fair to showcase the three wheeled vehicles and other invented products, called on investors to take advantage of the show and invest in the innovation. (NAN)
