ABUJA (Sundiata Post) – The management of the National Assembly has explained the reason for the postponement of the inauguration of the new Library and Research Centre, which was scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 16, 2023.
National Assembly’s Secretary of Research and Information, Dr Ali Bare Umoru said the ongoing budget defence necessitated the postponement of the event.
He said in a press release that a new date for the inauguration would be announced later.
Dr Umoru regretted all inconveniences the postponement of the inauguration of the centre might have caused.
The Executive Secretary of the National Assembly Library Trust Fund, Hon Henry Nwawuba also adduced the same reason in a statement he also issued.
Entitled: “Notice of Cancellation”, Nwawuba said: “we regret to inform you that the inauguration of the library and research Centre building, which was originally scheduled for Saturday, December 16 at 5 pm., has been postponed.
“The decision had been made due to the ongoing budget defence, and we are working on getting a new date for the inauguration ceremony.
“We understand that this may cause inconveniences for those who were looking forward to attending the event, and we sincerely apologise for any disruption this may have caused.
“Please rest assured that we will communicate a new date for the inauguration as soon as it is finalized.
“We appreciate your understanding and continued support as we work to make the library and research centre a valuable resource for the community. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.”
