SOKOTO – Alhaji Zayyanu Gandi, Chairman, Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State, has called on the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to introduce mobile registration units, to ensure massive registration of Nigerians.

Gandi told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto that it would enable Nigerians to register and collect the card with ease.

He called on the commission provide more registration machines at the local government areas to capture the rural people who were in the majority.

Gandi explained that the success of the exercise depended largely on the massive participation of Nigerians.

He said “a situation where only a few Nigerians are registered at the state capitals will certainly affect the success of the exercise”.

“We have already mobilised and sensitised our people to the importance of being issued the cards but lack of data capturing machines to register our people is preventing the people from coming out to participate,” he said.

Gandi called on the management of the civic registration to work out modalities that would ensure that all Nigerians were registered and issued the cards. (NAN)
