Abuja (Sundiata Post) – King Charles III of the United Kingdom has called on nations of the world to stand against tyranny it whatever form.
He made this call on Thursday at a D-Day commemoration in France.
The occasion marked 80 years since the Allied landings in Normandy that changed the outcome of World War II.
Charles, who paid homage to fallen Allied soldiers in the French town of Ver-sur-Mer, also saluted French civilians who paid the supreme prize and the courage of members of the French resistance.
“It is with the most profound sense of gratitude that we remember them. And all those who served at that critical time,” he said.
According to the King, he had been honoured to meet so many veterans over the years.
Honouring the D-Day heroes, King Charles said the ability to learn from their stories at firsthand diminishes, stressing that the obligation to remember them, what they stood for, and what they achieved can never diminish.
