Lagos – An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Thursday remanded a 48-year old native doctor, Kayode Korede-Kuye, in Kirikiri Prisons for obtaining N100,000 on the pretext of preparing concoction for a pregnant woman.
The Magistrate, Mrs Taiwo Akanni, remanded the accused in prison after he pleaded guilty to a two-count charge of obtaining the money by false pretence and stealing.
Akanni adjourned the case till Dec. 14 for sentencing.
Korede-Kuye resides at 167 Old Palace Road, Ota, Ogun.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Clifford Ogu, told the court that the offences were committed on Oct. 26 at 52, Olota Road, Abule Egba, a suburb of Lagos.
Ogu said that the accused collected N100,000 from the pregnant woman, Mrs Blessing Nwosu, under the pretence of giving her a concoction not to suffer a miscarriage.
“Since then, he vanished and all efforts to locate him proved abortive until when the complainant’s husband sighted and apprehended him,” he said.

The offences, according to the prosecutor, contravened Sections 285 and 312 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. (NAN)
