YENAGOA (SUNDIATA POST)- The Headquarters of the Central Naval Command in Yenagoa on Saturday conducted its fourth quarterly route march for the year to ensure the physical fitness and mental health alertness of its personnel.
The walk kicked off from the Nigerian Navy Ship SOROH Parade Ground through Opolo to Tombia Roundabout and back to base.
The exercise, which lasted for about two hours and thirty minutes, had Commodore Nanmar Lakan, Commander Nigerian Navy Ship SOROH and other senior officers in attendance.
After the route march, Rear Adm. Olusegun Soyemi, Acting Flag Officer Commanding, Central Naval Command, expressed his satisfaction over the turnout of the personnel.
He said that the aim of the exercise was to ensure that officers and men of the Nigerian Navy were physically fit for the task they had been assigned to do.
According to him, the aim was to promote comradeship and for the populace to know that they have a Navy that is physically fit to carry out their assignments.
He said: “The Chief of the Naval Staff and by extension the flag officer commanding central naval command will continue to take interest in the welfare of every personnel.
“The Chief of Naval Staff is determine to ensure that your welfare is paramount, including issues of accommodation, allowances, health care. ”
“You must continue to do your job in the best of your ability; you must remain disciplined and focused.
“The Chief of Naval Staff maintains zero tolerance for indiscipline, zero tolerance for any corrupt practice.
“So for those of you that are out there in the field conducting anti-crude oil and anti-illegal bunkering patrol, please remain steadfast in your duties.
“Do not waver in your resolve to rid this country of all criminalities and I assure you that the Navy will reward each and everyone of you for your sacrifices,” he said. (NAN)
