Women Journalists (NAWOJ), on Friday in Lagos, advised the electorate to develop positive attitude towards the next general elections.
Omowole, who made the call during a Town Hall Meeting organised by Nigerian Women in Action, an NGO, said Nigerians should also think beyond the 2015 elections.
“I suggest that we begin to speak positively irrespective of which party we belong to. Think about where Nigeria is going to after Feb. 2015’’, she said.
According to her, women should vote wisely and for the candidates who would guarantee the welfare and security of their families.
She implored women not to allow themselves to be used by politicains for their selfish interests. “Dear Nigerian women, look before you leap’’, Omowole said.
The President of Women International Shipping and Trading Association (WISTA) Nigeria, Mrs Jean Chiazor-Anishere, said Nigerians were enjoying dividends of democracy under the present administration.
Anishere said President Jonathan had given women more positions in government.
“President Jonathan is promoting gender equality. He has assisted WISTA to empower women in the fishing profession.
“PDP government has created more jobs for women and by 2020, a woman will be vice president of this country if we allow PDP to continue ruling’’, Anishere added. (NAN)
