NAWOJ President calls for unity, peace among ethnic groups

Ado-Ekiti – The National President of Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Mrs Ify Omowole, on Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti, called for unity among the various ethnic groups for peaceful co-existence in the country.

Omowole made the call at a seminar organised for the Ekiti and Ondo councils of NAWOJ.

The national president said that for the country to witness unprecedented development, there was the need for the society to be safe from insurgency.

She appealed to Nigerians to have hope in the nation in spite of the current economic hardship due to the paucity of funds and fuel scarcity.

She also urged women to always discharge their duties diligently anywhere they found themselves.

Also speaking, the state Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Mr Laolu Omosilade, thanked NAWOJ for choosing Ekiti for the programme and called for more gender tolerance in the society.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that among the participants at the seminar were NUJ members from Oyo, Ondo, Ogun and Ekiti states. (NAN)
