LAGOS – The Board of the Nigeria Baseball and Softball Association (NBSA) on Monday reiterated its commitment to further enhance the growth of the sport in the country.
A press statement released by Kehinde Laniyan, the secretary of the association said the pledge was made in a reply to a congratulatory letter sent to the newly-elected board by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSA).
The statement said that the newly elected board had already adopted measures that would reposition the sport in the country.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that WBSA had, in a congratulatory message, sent to the newly elected board of NBSA, urged it to focus its attention on the continuous development of the sport in the country.
The statement said that the body had set up committees to draw up programmes targeted at promoting the sport at the grassroots.
“In response to the letter we receive from WBSA, NBSA is assuring the confederation that the new board will do everything possible to improve the standard of baseball and softball in Nigeria.
“We have already taken some decisions toward achieving our aim and we strongly believe it will yield a positive result in a short while,’’ it said.
The statement urged stakeholders to work with the new board to boost the profile of the sport.
