ABUJA – The Nigerian Communications Commission has called on the Nigerian public to desist from playing prank calls on the nation’s emergency line.

The commission reiterated the directive some days ago.

The dedicated 112 emergency line is open 24/7 for only emergency lines.

The commission also advised Nigerians to make use of other channels to address domestic matters bordering on landlord/tenancy disputes, power outages, road closures and leave the 112 lines free for real emergency situations.

The emergency line should be used in cases of crimes, fire accidents, road accidents and other related emergencies only, the commission revealed.

This directive comes in line with the Consumer Education Programme embarked on by the commission to educate members of the public on the use emergency lines across the country.
