Abuja- Christian Paul of Tombim Tennis Club has won the first match in the men single in opening of the Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC) Tennis League Cup.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the second edition of the NCC Tennis League Cup was organised in collaboration with Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF).
Paul defeated Sylvester Emmanuel of Offikwu Tennis Club from Kaduna 6-4, 6-2 in the match played at the package B of National Stadium.
Paul told newsmen after the match that his team was set to replicate their performance
“I am happy that I won my first game, my team won the league last year, we will also win this year league, with determination and concentration we will do well.
“I do not see a team that can stop my team from winning the league. My opponent was a great player, he plays very well, I have to hit more balls than him to win the game,’ he said.
Emmanuel of Offikwu Tennis Club from Kaduna said his opponent play a better game.
“I realise my mistake in the game, I will work more to avoid such mistake in my subsequence games,’’ he said.
NAN reports that 10 teams will participate in the second edition of NCC Tennis League Cup.
The League which begins on Sept. 10 is expected to end in December.
