As Nigeria continues to witness the global virus pandemic, the Nigerian Center for Disease Control, NCDC said it has tested a total of 62,583 samples of COVID-19 cases with 10,162 laboratory confirmed cases since the pandemic started in the country.
The new pandemic outbreak was revealed in the NCDC latest data.
Toping the NCDC latest data on COVID- 19 update is Lagos State with highest number of cases with 4943 cumulative cases,188 new cases, 825 patients discharged and 54 deaths.
Second on the list is Kano State with954 cumulative cases, 240 discharged patients and 45 related deaths.
Surprisingly Kogi State which appears to be vulnerable is at the bottom of the data with a rock bottom figure of two cases, zero discharge and zero deaths.
Since the advent of the novel virus in Nigeria, there has been a steady increase in cases of affected persons as cross the country. So far the NCDC said that the country has hit 10,162 figure cumulative cases, 307 new cases and 287 deaths with total of 6,868 active cases.
The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, is gradually witnessing an upward figure of Coronavirus cases 660 confirmed cases, 182 discharged and 19 deaths.
Meanwhile at the Monday briefing of the Presidential Task Force, PTF, on COVID-19 by the Chairman, Boss Mustapha said that President Muhammadu Buhari has approved extension of the phase one of the eased lockdown in order to close gaps in the expected national response gains.
The PTF further announced the extension of the lockdown of Kano State due to the need to address the peculiar circumstances that had arisen in that state.
According to PTF, the Coronavirus global figures recorded as at Sunday, 31st May 2020 had risen to 6,407,451 confirmed cases, 2,862,610 recoveries and 377,834 fatalities across 216 countries and territories of the world.
