Lagos –  The Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB), has urged Nigerians to be patient with President Muhammadu Buhari on the present state of the nation’s economy.

The President of NCRIB, Mr Kayode Okunoren, gave this advice in a chat with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Wednesday while reacting to the recent attacks on the Chevron facilities in Delta.

Okunoren, however, noted that Nigerians were passing through economic recession, which had witnessed unfavourable exchange rate of the Naira against the US dollars and high cost of goods and services.

“The downturn of our crude oil in the international market coupled with the gale of corruption manifesting in the mismanagement of the nation’s resources has worsened the plight,” he said.

He pleaded with Nigerians not to revolt or take laws into their hands, noting that the economic situation would soon improve.

Okunoren, however, said that the position of the NCRIB was that all citizens needed to endure with the current economic situation.

He said; “the take of the Council is that all citizens should exercise more patience and cooperate with the present administration to ensure economic revival,” he said.

According to him, President Muhammadu Buhari should ensure that his administration lives by example and adopts a lifestyle that conforms to what it preaches.

”While the citizens are enduring and sacrificing, the onus is also on the leaders to lead by example.in order to get the needed support from all Nigerians,” he said. (NAN)
