Abuja (Sundiata Post) – The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), on Tuesday, urged residents of Afaka, Mando, and Kauya in Kaduna State not to panic, when its shooting exercise will take place at the NDA Open Range.
The announcement is contained in a statement by the Academy Public Relations Officer, Maj. Muhammad Maidawa, and a copy sent to our correspondent.
Maidawa said the exercise is scheduled to take place from Wednesday, March 26, to Friday, March 28, 2025 as part of the Range Classification Exercise for cadets of the Short Service Course 48 Army.
“The exercise will involve live firing of arms and is essential for the training and development of our cadets, aimed at enhancing their marksmanship skills.
“The NDA takes safety seriously. Barriers and warning signs will be placed around the range areas to indicate restricted zones. It is crucial that all local residents strictly adhere to these warnings. We kindly urge all herders as well as pedestrians to stay clear of the NDA Open Range during the duration of the shooting exercise”, he said.
He continued: “The area will be off-limits for your safety and the safety of the training personnel. The NDA is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all citizens in the surrounding communities.
“We ask community members to cooperate fully by keeping clear of the designated area throughout the duration of the exercise. This cooperation is mutually beneficial, ensuring the safety of our local communities and the effective training of our military personnel.
“We appreciate your understanding and collaboration as we conduct this important training program”, the academy Spokesman said.
